In August, the Communications team focused on driving media coverage to ensure a strong end of summer visitation and began pitching for fall travel. The road trip and quick weekend getaway angles popular through the pandemic continue to pay off for San Antonio with a fantastic destination feature story in Forbes.
While international visitation will take some time to recover, the team has continued to pitch international media to make inroads and develop awareness for when the travel restrictions lift in November. A strong result of this was a strong destination story published by ANSA, Italy’s version of the AP (Associated Press), hailing San Antonio’s cultural offerings.
An international market closer to home, Mexico, continues to be a top target and produced strong results during the month. In addition to hosting a celebrity social media influencer, the Communications team was able to secure coverage in leading news, lifestyle and travel trade media showcasing luxury hotels, family entertainment and San Antonio’s diverse entertainment options.
The Communications team also continues to pitch meetings trade media which this month led to San Antonio being included in a story in Connect Magazine featuring top new rooftop meeting venues.
