Sustainability and Green Meetings in San Antonio
Get Into the Green Scene
From becoming a chartered member of the Convene Green Alliance to initiating a plan to build a sustainable economy, San Antonio is committed to upholding environmental best practices.
On April 8, 2010, the City of San Antonio City Council adopted an ordinance requiring events with certain criteria to complete a Green Event Scorecard. The City of San Antonio’s Office of Sustainability has provided a guide to assist meeting planners with completing a Green Event Scorecard and provide tips to plan a greener event. Following the guide can help to reduce the amount of waste, energy and materials consumed during the course of your event planning and festivities. Download the guide here.
In addition, in 2017 our Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center received LEED Silver Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for implementing practical and measurable strategies aimed at achieving high performance in: innovative design, sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.
San Antonio is internationally known for its hospitality and vibrant community culture, but it’s also gaining global notoriety as one of the greenest large American cities. For more information on San Antonio’s sustainability programs and policies, please click here.
