As San Antonio International Airport adds to its long string of passenger records, multiple airlines are adding or introducing new flights to the Alamo City.

Several carriers have increased capacity to meet that record growth.

Here is a look at the airlines that are expanding their operations in San Antonio, launching new flights or resuming service at San Antonio International:

  • United Airlines has added a second daily flight to San Francisco as of Sept. 26.
  • Volaris will launch daily, nonstop service to Monterrey starting Nov. 3.
  • Delta Air Lines will introduce new daily service to Boston beginning Nov. 11. The new flight represents the 7th nonstop the carrier will offer at SAT, and it will operate year-round.
  • Spirit Airlines plans to resume seasonal service to Tampa on Nov. 21.
  • Southwest says it will reintroduce seasonal nonstop flights to Colorado Springs, Colorado, on Nov. 23. Those flights will be offered on Saturdays through Jan. 5 and nearly daily during the week of Christmas and New Year’s.
  • Viva Aerobus will start new, nonstop service to Guadalajara beginning Dec. 2 with flights scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. It also plans to resume seasonal service to Torreon beginning Dec. 21.
  • Volaris plans to add a second daily nonstop flight to Monterrey as of March 30.
  • Condor Airlines plans to relaunch seasonal nonstop flights to Frankfurt beginning May 23. Those flights are set for Mondays and Fridays through the end of August.

While multiple carriers look to expand their presence in San Antonio, one airline is set to depart the city. As I previously reported, JetBlue Airways will exit the market on Oct. 27, ending its current daily service to Boston and New York.

Delta’s San Antonio expansion will fill the Boston gap. Meanwhile, Delta, United and Spirit will continue to offer flights from SAT to the New York metro.

Other carriers could look to tap into the growing demand for seats on flights to and from San Antonio International.

The passenger count at SAT approached 905,000 in August. That represents the busiest August on record at the Alamo City airport and the first time the head count for that month surpassed 900,000.

The San Antonio airport has continued to set new monthly passenger records since May 2023. Several airlines have expanded domestic service to and from SAT since August 2023.
