NCAA members will gather in San Antonio for the first fully in-person Convention since 2020, following a virtual Convention in 2021 and a hybrid Convention in 2022. The Convention will take place from Wednesday, Jan. 11, to Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023.
Return to an in-person format comes at a pivotal moment for the Association and is supported by the governance committees for the NCAA divisions, as well as member feedback in the post-Convention surveys.
The annual NCAA Convention brings presidents, athletics directors, campus and conference administrators, and student-athlete leaders from all three divisions together to conduct business, share best practices for supporting student-athletes, discuss emerging issues in college sports, connect with peers, and honor the Association's best and brightest.
A full slate of education sessions will be offered on-site beginning Wednesday and continuing through Thursday afternoon. Topics will include key issues for all members, such as mental health; student-athlete benefits; and diversity, inclusion, equity and belonging. While there will be no virtual offerings during the Convention week, on-site education sessions will be recorded and made available to NCAA members after the Convention.
Additionally, the NCAA Woman of the Year Award will be presented during the Convention for the first time, with a luncheon Thursday, Jan. 12. Moving the event, which is traditionally held in Indianapolis in the fall, will allow more members to attend this prestigious ceremony and more school and conference representatives to celebrate with their honorees.
The Honors Celebration, Woman of the Year, State of College Sports and Saluting Excellence events will be streamed publicly and will not require a Convention registration to view. Convention attendees may register for one complimentary ticket to these events on a first-come, first-served basis.
Registration for the Convention will open Tuesday, Sept. 13. To help support member participation, the registration fee schedule from the last in-person event in 2020 will again apply in 2023, with no increase. The Grand Hyatt San Antonio River Walk, San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter and San Antonio Marriott Riverwalk will provide meeting space and sleeping rooms. Association-wide education sessions and events will be at the Henry B. González Convention Center.
