San Antonio, Texas (June 18, 2026) – Visit San Antonio earned its reaccreditation 12 years after first receiving the Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP) accreditation from Destinations International in 2014. DMAP accreditation is awarded in recognition of the organization's commitment to industry excellence and meeting the industry standard for performance and accountability of destination organizations around the world.
“Visit San Antonio is proud to continue being a responsible and model destination marketing organization on behalf of the Alamo City,” said Mario Bass, President and CEO of Visit San Antonio. “Tourism and hospitality is one of the top industries moving San Antonio forward, employing more than 150,000 of our residents and contributing over $23.4 billion dollars in local economic impact. Our hard-working team is dedicated to ensuring San Antonio’s hotels are filled, restaurants and attractions buzzing, artists and cultural institutions busy and small local businesses constantly contracted.”
The accreditation program requires a destination organization to successfully comply with a set of rigorous mandatory and voluntary standards that span a variety of performance areas to gain this momentous achievement. The standards cover nearly all aspects related to the management and marketing of destination organizations, including governance, finance, human resources, sales, communications, destination development and research. Visit San Antonio is among over 200 destination organizations that have obtained DMAP accreditation.
“We are pleased to have Visit San Antonio continue as one of our distinguished accredited organizations,” said Don Welsh, President and CEO of Destinations International. “The industry distinction defines quality and performance standards for destination organizations, and I look forward to continue working with Mario and his team as part of the DMAP community.”
Visit San Antonio is the only local organization that promotes San Antonio as a leisure and meetings travel destination, which also brings meetings and conventions to the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center as well as hotels across the city. Since becoming a private non-profit in 2016, Visit San Antonio has booked over 4,800 meetings and conventions in San Antonio, providing an economic impact of more than $4.7 billion. Visit San Antonio’s trackable marketing efforts have led to over 6.5 million attributed visitors with an economic impact of $2.6 billion since the technology became available in 2019.
