SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – January 28, 2025 – The San Antonio Botanical Garden marked a significant milestone today as it celebrated its 45th anniversary during a special press conference held at the Garden’s Betty Kelso Center. San Antonio Botanical Garden President and CEO, Katherine Trumble, outlined the Garden’s exciting plans for the future, underscoring its commitment to environmental sustainability, community engagement, and continued education.

During the event, Trumble unveiled the new 45th anniversary logo, which will serve as a symbol of the Garden’s continued growth and transformation. She also announced the launch of Phase I of the San Antonio Botanical Garden’s Strategic Master Plan, a transformative initiative designed in partnership with Reed Hilderbrand, to enhance the visitor experience, expand conservation efforts, and create a lasting impact on the local community and beyond.

"As we reflect on 45 years of growth, our mission remains the same—to create a space where people can connect with nature, learn about the environment, and experience the beauty of the natural world," said Trumble. "The next phase of our journey will build on our strong foundation and chart an exciting course forward."

The Master Plan focuses on revitalizing the Garden’s horticultural campus with new educational and immersive spaces. Highlights include the development of a pollinator meadow at the heart of the Garden, an initiative aimed at engaging visitors with nature while promoting the vital role pollinators play in maintaining ecological balance.

The press conference also highlighted the Garden’s impressive 2024 achievements, including the engagement of over 25,000 school children, 13,000 annual members, and more than 900 educational programs. As part of its commitment to sustainability, the Garden has become a leader in water-wise gardening practices and offers a wide range of educational opportunities focused on sustainability, horticulture, arts, and wellness.

Looking ahead, the San Antonio Botanical Garden is kicking off the year with several exciting events and exhibitions. Upcoming highlights include Orchids: Colorburst (February 1–March 31) and Reflections of Nature (March 8–October 27), among others.
