San Antonio, Texas – Re:Rooted210 wins Best Of Show Texas Red at the 14th Annual San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo International Wine Competition.
Re:Rooted 210 Urban Winery has won Best of Show Texas Red for their 2022 Petite Verdot at the 2024 14th Annual San Antono Stock & Rodeo International Wine Competition. The 2022 Petite Verdot received a Double Gold Medal, competing against over one thousand International submissions.
The 2022 Petite Verdot is packaged in wine kegs rather than a traditional glass bottle and is served to order by the glass and bottle from a Nitrogen tap system. This win marks the first time a kegged wine has won a Best of Show designation.
ReRooted:210 produces wine in kegs to reduce packaging waste and reduce the carbon footprint of wine production. Each wine keg contains approximately 26 bottles of wine. The ability to pour from tap reduces glass waste annually by an estimated 80%.
Wines produced in keg by Re:Rooted210 are served by the glass using a custom tap system at Re:Rooted201’s tasting room. Wines on tap are sold by the bottle using refillable glass growlers, which can be returned for a discount. Re:Rooted210 estimates that their refillable growlers are reused 7-8 times, replacing the equivalent of 10,000 one time use bottles a year.
The 2024 Petite Verdot uses 100% Texas grapes sourced from the Texas High Plains AVA. Approximately 50 kegs (154 cases; 1850 bottles) are available. Re:Rooted210 is owned by Jennifer Beckmann, a Certified Wine Educator (Society of Wine Educators) and Certified Sommelier (Court of Master Sommeliers). Jennifer has worked in the Texas wine industry since 2009. Re:Rooted210 opened in 2021.
Re:Rooted210 is located at 623 Hemisfair Boulevard, San Antonio Texas 78205, near the corner of Hemisfair Boulevard and Nuevo Street in Hemisfair. Operating hours are 1-9 PM Thursday through Monday. Wine by the glass or bottle, wine samplers and charcuterie options are available.
