One of the Fastest Growing Cities in the United States Hits the Road

On the Road with Visit San Antonio:

National Roadshow Brings Destination Updates to 11 Markets

Alamo City Updates Meeting Professionals with “On the Road, The Future Rocks” Activations

SAN ANTONIO (March 1, 2024) – Meeting professionals coast to coast are being invited to Visit San Antonio’s first-time multi-city roadshow, “On the Road, The Future Rocks,” from March through May 2024. Alamo City partners, cultural storytellers and Visit San Antonio team members are heading to Seattle, San Francisco, Chicago, Denver, New York City, Washington, D.C., Nashville, Atlanta, Dallas and Houston.

Previewed at PCMA’s Convening Leaders in San Diego in January, the roadshow activation recreates a vibrant environment with green turf, lush greenery, River Walk-style umbrellas, tabletops for client one-on-ones, and storytellers sharing the authentic story of San Antonio. San Antonio musicians entertain and at the center of it all is ‘Rita, a vintage Italian Piaggio Ape vehicle branded and custom retrofitted to serve up signature San Antonio mocktails and more.

Each event (a combination of networking receptions, lunches and evening tradeshows) will feature a program where Visit San Antonio leaders will highlight the destination’s assets as a premier meetings destination and share what is new and upcoming in San Antonio.

San Antonio is the seventh largest city in the United States and also one of the fastest growing cities in the country. Not only did San Antonio add more than 12 new hotels and 100 restaurants since the start of the pandemic, but the city continues to evolve and grow at an unprecedented pace. A robust list of infrastructure updates are in the pipeline. Improvements include a $2.5 billion expansion of the San Antonio International Airport, more than $900 million in cultural improvements to such historic sites as Market Square, La Villita and the top visitor attraction in Texas, The Alamo. In addition, 20 new hotels are in development bringing the downtown inventory to nearly 15,000 hotel rooms in the coming years. These are just a few exciting improvements that will be previewed during the multi-city roadshow with so much more to discuss.

In addition to the many professionals who participated at PCMA, Visit San Antonio’s goal is for current and new customers to uncover the many secrets of one of the most historic, yet evolving cities in the country as we take our city on the road.

“There is no better way to tell the San Antonio story than to bring the flavor, spirit, culture and ambassadors directly to our ever-important meeting professional clients,” said Marc Anderson, President and CEO, Visit San Antonio. “One of the reasons I moved to San Antonio was to tell the countless stories of our city. Stories of our carefully preserved history and heritage coupled with the stories of a city that is growing and evolving unlike any city in the USA. We do not want San Antonio to be a secret. We want the world to know all we have to offer, including the important stories of our locals, who will join us on this trek across America.”

Partners to date joining Visit San Antonio “On the Road, On the Rocks” include the Courtyard by Marriott, Grand Hyatt and Hyatt Regency, Henry B. Gonzàlez Convention Center, Hilton Palacio del Rio, Kimpton Santo, Marriott Rivercenter and Marriott Riverwalk, Omni La Mansion del Rio, Plaza San Antonio, The CE Group, San Antonio International Airport, and the Westin Riverwalk – San Antonio.
