San Antonio, TX (June 11, 2026) – LeBron James. You got to love him. The NBA superstar and basketball legend recently suggested that having the NBA Finals start in San Antonio favored New York because, as he put it, "you ain't doing nothing in San Antonio."
In response to James’ claim, destination officials have assembled a customized game plan designed to help one of basketball's greatest forwards discover one of America’s most historic and entertaining cities off the court.
LeBron, here’s your play-by-play on how to spend 24-hours in San Antonio. Game on!
8:00 AM: Opening Tip-Off – Begin the day with an assist from a local taqueria by fueling up with a breakfast taco.
9:30 AM: The Lay-up – Visit the Alamo (it’s free!) to witness one of the most famous defensive stands in American history.
11:00 AM: Fast Break – Take a stroll along the famed River Walk, rimmed with restaurants, shops, culture and scenery. Head down to the Museum Reach, grab a kayak and paddle away. Easy points transition.
12:30 PM: Lunch Timeout – Take your pick from traditional Tex-Mex or Tex-Next – the city is teeming with talented chefs and global cuisines making it one of only two U.S. destinations designated a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.
2:00 PM: Community Assist – Choose your own highlight reel: Pearl, San Antonio Museum of Art, Historic Market Square, World Heritage Center, public art walks or one of the city's many eclectic and historic neighborhoods.
4:00 PM: Fourth Quarter Warm-Up – Soak up the sun atop one of the many rooftop bars overlooking downtown.
6:00 PM: Three-Point Shot – Now that you’ve built up an appetite, enjoy some San Antonio hospitality at a number of chef-driven and MICHELIN Guide-recognized restaurants.
9:00 PM: Prime-Time Performance – Trade in your jersey for a classic guayabera and check out San Antonio’s nightlife and live entertainment venues.
11:00 PM: Postgame Press Conference – Reevaluate the statement that there is "nothing to do" in San Antonio.
The final stats are in and include a dozen or more activities, countless historic landmarks and too many championship-level experiences to count. In a postgame review, San Antonio defeats boredom by a sizeable margin.
San Antonio is ready to give LeBron James the vacation he needs and welcomes him back to the Alamo City knowing that he’ll have plenty to do once he arrives. After all, if San Antonio, the nation’s seventh largest city, can host NBA playoffs, welcome millions of visitors each year and keep the legend of Pee-wee Herman's bike alive for decades, it’s a slam dunk figuring out how to keep a future Hall of Famer entertained for a day (or longer).
The NBA Finals return to Frost Bank Center in San Antonio for Game 5 this Saturday, June 13. Time to lace up and dress up for fun in San Antonio before and after the game!
