San Antonio, TX — The San Antonio Parks Foundation is proud to announce the return of Jazz’SAlive, presented by Thomas J. Henry, for its 42nd year on September 26–27, 2025. The iconic, free two-day jazz festival will once again transform Civic Park at Hemisfair into a vibrant showcase of live music, community spirit, and cultural celebration in the heart of downtown San Antonio.

 

Looking to show your support while enjoying a more elevated experience? A limited opportunity with shaded Patron Seats is available on the main lawn. Perfect for those seeking a reserved seating area, Patron Seats are sold as single-day tickets. Guests wanting to secure a Patron Seat for both Friday and Saturday should purchase tickets for each respective day. Patron Seats are priced at $60 per seat, per day and can be purchased at www.saparks.org  

 

Step into the VIP speakeasy—open from 5:00 PM to 10:30 PM each night—for an exclusive experience with comfortable seating. Guests will enjoy complimentary beverages from 5:00 to 10:00 featuring fresh juice refreshers, coffee-inspired libations, wine sampling from Provenance Vineyards, and our signature Outside on the Rocks cocktail. From 6:00 to 8:00 PM, savor Beats, Bourbon, and Bites—an evening of curated bourbon tastings paired with delectable hors d'oeuvres. Every guest will receive complimentary Coca-Cola products, latenight munchies, and a fun goodie bag to take home. Individual tickets are $250 per person or $1,750 for a reserved table of 8 per night.

The Jazz’SAlive 2025 talent lineup scheduled to appear on Friday will feature:

 

MiChelle Garibay-Carey is a singer-songwriter and recording artist based in San Antonio, Texas. She has performed professionally for 32 years and counting! From Jazz to Soul to Gospel to Pop, she pours her heart into every tune. Her 2020 breakthrough album “Love Dance,” released on the Big Bib Entertainment label, is her first as a solo performer following a successful stint as lead vocalist of local band PM Soul, MiChelle Garibay-Carey Quartet a group she founded with husband / bassist Pat Carey.

 

The St. Mary’s University PM Jazz Combo is the Department of Music’s premier jazz ensemble, focused on small group jazz and improvisation. Open to both music and non-music majors, the group performs two to three concerts per semester, featuring works from the Swing Era to contemporary jazz. Directed by Dr. Adrian Ruiz—Director of Jazz Studies since 2023—the combo regularly performs at university events, local high schools, and major festivals like Jazz’SAlive and the Texas Jazz Festival.

 

With over 1.7 million followers and 27 million views, rising jazz vocalist Stella Cole brings her timeless sound to Jazz’SAlive as she prepares to release her third album, It’s Magic, on Decca Records US. Known for reviving Great American Songbook classics through viral performances on TikTok and YouTube, Cole pairs vintage elegance with modern reach. Produced by Grammy-winner Matt Pierson with lush arrangements by Alan Broadbent, It’s Magic is a romantic tribute to the golden age of song—performed with a voice that feels both classic and new.

 

Renowned jazz pianist Mark Little teams up with Melodious Phunk for a genre-bending performance that fuses jazz, funk, soul, and R&B. Known for his expressive touch and rhythmic creativity, Little leads the ensemble through grooving originals and reimagined classics. Expect a high-energy set that’s as musically rich as it is irresistibly funky.

 

Closing out the first night is Endea Owens and the Cookout. Emmy, Grammy, and Peabody Awardwinning bassist, composer, and recording artist she is one of jazz’s most dynamic rising stars. A Detroit native and Juilliard graduate, Owens has performed with icons such as Wynton Marsalis, Diana Ross, Jon Batiste, and Dee Dee Bridgewater, and is a member of the house band on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Her work spans award-winning albums, Oscar-nominated films, and landmark live performances like Super Bowl LV. Deeply committed to community and education, she founded the Community Cookout, a nonprofit providing free meals and live music across New York City. From composing for the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra to curating for the National Jazz Museum in Harlem, Owens continues to break new ground—most recently with her debut album Feel Good Music and a new commission for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.

 

Brenná Parker, a USAF veteran and professional singer originally from Detroit, has lived in San Antonio since the 1990s and currently works as an HR Assistant at JBSA-Ft. Sam Houston. Her impressive musical journey includes touring with the USAF "Tops in Blue," performing with icons like The Commodores and Little Richard, and being a former member of The Hues Corporation. She’s also opened for jazz greats such as Jonathan Butler and Phillip Martin. This year, she will once again honor her city by performing the National Anthem at San Antonio’s Jazz’SAlive festival.

At just 23, Lucía Gutiérrez Rebolloso is making waves in the jazz world. The Veracruz-born vocalist became the first Mexican finalist—and eventual winner—of the prestigious Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition, earning acclaim for her soulful, bilingual interpretation of “What a Difference a Day Makes.” Her self-titled debut album Lucía blends jazz with Latin American roots, featuring collaborations with jazz greats like Antonio Sánchez, Larry Grenadier, and Edward Simon. With a voice both luminous and emotionally rich, Lucía brings a fresh, multicultural perspective to jazz.

 

The Lighthouse All Stars

The Lighthouse All Stars are a special collective of DJs assembled for the 42nd Annual Jazz’SAlive festival. Under the creative direction of DJ SunnyBoy (Rene Zamora), owner of The Lighthouse Lounge, this group of dedicated, all-vinyl DJs from the San Antonio area focuses on classic and rare Chicano Soul, Westside Oldies, and Latin Soul & Jazz. For this year's festival, the Lighthouse All Stars will be hosting a mid-day Latin Soul DJ Party on the KRTU stage at Civic Park, at Hemisfair Saturday, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

 

The Soul Spot DJs

For over 15 years, the Soul Spot DJ crew has been lighting up dance floors across San Antonio with their unique blend of classic and modern soul, funk, and groove. Known for their specially curated, all-vinyl sets, they have brought their sound to some of the city's most notable venues, including Tucker's Kozy Korner, The Lighthouse Lounge, and most recently, the Japanese Tea Garden for a special night of disco. Catch the Soul Spot DJs at this year's 42nd annual Jazz’SAlive festival! They'll be featured on a new stage at Civic Park, at Hemisfair, providing grooves from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday.

 

Trumpeter Mike Sailors and saxophonist Elias Haslanger are two of Austin’s leading jazz voices, known for their dynamic performances and deep musical chemistry. Sailors has performed worldwide with top ensembles and artists, from the Mingus Jazz Orchestra to Lady Gaga, and currently teaches at The University of Texas at Austin. Haslanger, an award-winning saxophonist and bandleader, has shared the stage with legends like Ellis Marsalis and Maynard Ferguson, with recordings that have topped national jazz charts. Together, they bring a bold, soulful sound rooted in jazz tradition and modern expression.

 

The USAF Dimensions in Blue Jazz Combo is a dynamic small ensemble within the United States Air Force Band of the West. Specializing in classic and contemporary jazz, the group showcases the versatility and talent of Air Force musicians through engaging performances that highlight improvisation and tight ensemble work. Whether performing at military ceremonies, community events, or educational outreach programs, the combo brings the spirit of jazz and the professionalism of the Air Force to every stage.

 

Nina & The Gypsies Led by powerhouse percussionist Nina Rodriguez, this ensemble of hardworking virtuosos fuses flamenco, rhumba, and Latin grooves into an electrifying performance that reimagines the spirit of the Gipsy Kings, Paco de Lucia and Chic Correa with unmatched passion, rhythm, and stage presence. Featuring Nina, José Manuel Tejeda, Luisma Ramos, Ramon Dario Botello, Andres Ovalle. Joining the Gypsies for this performance, Vocalist- Isai Chacon, Chris Guerrero, Joe Bordini and Haile Uriarte

 

The Jason Charos Quintet delivers a fresh take on modern jazz, led by trumpeter and composer Jason Charos. With a sound rooted in tradition but driven by innovation, the group explores dynamic original compositions and reimagined standards. Their performance promises soulful melodies, bold improvisation, and a deep connection to the jazz lineage.

 

Closing out Saturday evening on high energy moves by Renowned Afro-Cuban percussionist and vocalist Pedrito Martinez, hailed as “a genius” by Wynton Marsalis and praised by Quincy Jones for electrifying performances, continues to shape the future of Cuban music with his groundbreaking work. Born in Havana and now a New York City staple, Pedrito has collaborated with legends including Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, and Eric Clapton, and has led the Grammy-nominated Pedrito Martinez Group since 2005. With multiple acclaimed albums and a dynamic live presence, Pedrito’s latest project, Acertijos—featuring contributions from Eric Clapton and produced during the pandemic—cements his role as a vital innovator in Afro-Cuban jazz and rumba traditions.

The artisan market, “Bazaar,” will showcase local craftsmanship and unique goods, offering a wonderful chance to support talented artists and artisans. The vibrant rhythms of Samba Vida will energize the festival with captivating performances on both days of Jazz’SAlive! Plus, there will be a range of family-friendly activities, ensuring fun and entertainment for festival-goers of all ages.

Jazz’SAlive Sunday closes out the weekend celebration with a spirited gathering at Travis Park United Methodist Church, 230 E. Travis Street. Join us on Sunday, September 28, at 9:45 a.m. for a unique, jazz-infused worship service and concert featuring talented local musicians. As the final note of the festival weekend, the celebration continues after the service with an outdoor after-party in the church parking lot, complete with food trucks, live music, and community fun. Guests may park in the Travis Park Plaza Garage with validation available at the Welcome Desk. This joyful conclusion to Jazz’SAlive is open to all—come as you are and be part of the music!
