Sporty families can catch a game with the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs. Or flock to the San Antonio Missions, a San Diego Padres Double-A affiliate.

Educational Happenings

To pair fun with learning, museums top the family fun events in San Antonio. The children's museum, the DoSeum, and The Witte, a natural history museum, are on the same street. You’ll find events like STEAM Sunday at The Witte or the Free Family Night at the DoSeum on the first Monday of the month.

Close by, Brackenridge Park is home to the San Antonio Zoo, the Japanese Tea Garden, and the zoo train. This area has charmed families for generations, so make a day of it during the Boo Zoo event or Zoo Lights during the holidays.

The Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch is a drive-through park with Natural Bridge Caverns closeby.  Morgan's Wonderland is an all-abilities park. The San Antonio Botanical Garden features a stream water feature in its Family Adventure Garden, plus its Happy Frights and Haunting Nights.

Family leisure in San Antonio can be free. The Yanaguana Garden at Hemisfair boasts a huge playground with play structures, swings, water play, and sand play steps from the River Walk. While many river parades are ticketed like the Texas Cavaliers River Parade in April, the Day of the Dead River Parade in October, and the Ford Holiday River Parade in November, many have select free seating areas.
