Germany Sales Mission

Visit San Antonio’s Tourism Development and Communication Departments executed a weeklong mission in Germany from Sept. 2-6, 2019. The mission included visits to Munich, Frankfurt, Hanover, Hamburg and Berlin. Staff conducted strategic trade appointments with key accounts such as FTI Touristik, TUI Deutschland, CRD International, Cruising Fernreisen and OTAs like USA Reisen. Outside of these offices, we also hosted evening-event dinners that included both tourism trade and media clients in an effort to showcase unique travel experiences about our destination and to inspire higher visitation from European travelers beyond the gateway cities. Our clients also had the opportunity to hear unique stories from two San Antonio Ambassadors, a former bull rider as well as nationally recognized accordionist. Because Germany is a major source market from Europe, tourism development staff also organized meetings with German companies to explore other non-traditional brand co-ops and direct-to-consumer marketing opportunities. Visit San Antonio was also joined by the San Antonio International Airport as well as the Fredericksburg Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Brand USA Travel Week

Brand USA Travel Week Europe 2019 was the first show of its kind in the European marketplace that showcased the diverse range of travel experiences available throughout the United States. It served as a business platform for U.S. suppliers to engage with key buyers from the United Kingdom and Europe. The event took place in London from Sept. 9-13, 2019. Throughout the show, staff met with tour operators throughout Europe that had a vested interest in developing their products with offering San Antonio and Texas to their customers in the foreseeable future. These one-on-one appointments will help to create more opportunities and consumer reach within Europe. Outside of inspiring new product development for our destination, part of our messaging was to also excite buyers and to bring awareness to IPW in San Antonio in 2023.
