Tourism staff participated in a webinar with Volaris, Travel Texas and the San Antonio International Airport. The webinar was conducted to educate the airlines’ top travel agents about the latest developments related to air travel into San Antonio and the current flight routes that are available. The timing of this webinar was fortuitous as Visit San Antonio began to plan strategic activities in the Mexican market.
MegaTravel & Brand USA Mexico US Destination Update
Visit San Antonio was featured as a top destination among cities such as Orlando, New York, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Staff prepared a 10-minute video to show the safety measures that the destination has to welcome visitors from Mexico. The areas highlighted focused on outdoor spaces such as Mission Reach, River Walk and Hemisfair Park. The feature was distributed throughout MegaTravel’s social media reach through Facebook Live. Viewers were all over Mexico and included Central and South America.
Brand USA Global Marketplace
This year was Brand USA’s second year conducting the Global Marketplace and it was done virtually. The Tourism Department attended the virtual conference to assess the European Marketplace to examine European readiness for future planning in 2021 or 2022. The virtual platform provided access that buyers could use to obtain updates on the destination, safety measures and destination readiness. Tourism staff had up to 26 meetings with operators across the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands and Scandinavia. In addition, staff also had the opportunity to attend enrichment series that included new travel trends post-COVID-19, as well as diversity in travel.
