Leisure Pass Group (the owner of Smart Destinations and Leisure Pass North America) have announced a new Regional Director, Maria Cuevas Hunter, who will be dedicated to the San Antonio market. Based in Cancun, she has developed a recent suite of products in Cancun and has spent over a decade in sales, marketing, and business development roles in the tourism industry. She will be in San Antonio from May 13 – 18 to meet with partners who are currently featured in the Explorer Pass and Go City Cards. She plans to return in late summer to begin looking at new attractions, restaurants and sightseeing tour partners who may be interested in doing business with the Leisure Pass Group.

Volaris Airlines Familiarization Tour
May 12- 15, 2019
Tourism Development in coordination with Communications is hosting a pre-summer Volaris Airlines familiarization tour (fam). The objective if the fam is to promote the Guadalajara - San Antonio route. Participating in the fam are clients from two of the top online travel agencies: Despegar.com and Price Travel, as well as a top tier tour operator, Iconn Travel.
The itinerary showcased our family fun experiences, to include: Six Flags Fiesta Texas, SeaWorld San Antonio, i-Fly indoor skydiving, Andretti Indoor Karting, Topgolf, and dinner at the Pearl and a river cruiser. A special thank you to the Hilton San Antonio Hill Country who hosted the group.

Vamos a San Antonio – Let’s go to San Antonio
This consumer activation will expand from last year to include a new location that will give us access to our target demographic while increasing our footprint in this very important drive market. Staff is currently curating activities, entertainment etc. that will be highlighted each weekend. The promotions will take place at San Pedro de Pinta and Pueblo Serena. State of Texas Co-op
April 2019 – March 2020
San Antonio will be participating in a year- long marketing, communication and tourism development campaign with the state and other major destinations in Texas. It will be centered on a content and experiential partnership with Wanderlust and Nikon – and the UK’s most acclaimed travel photography competition. This is a broad ranging, integrated multichannel approach, mixing both online & offline media and live events; increasing brand awareness, consumer engagement and driving travel to Texas. The campaign will position Texas as THE American destination, both for new travelers to the US and existing ones, by focusing on high value target segments. Finally, we are leveraging the unique appeal of Texan Cities, to create a narrative that will differentiate Texas from its competitors in America and the world.
