ARLAG May 2021
ARLAG is the most important tradeshow from Guadalajara and the 2021 edition is the first event for in-person meetings since the pandemic began. With this year’s ARLAG event, Visit San Antonio participated in partnership with Mega Travel. Mega Travel is one of Mexico’s top tour operators and are top producers for the Guadalajara and Bajio regions. The event was attended by more than 1,000 travel agents from Jalisco, Queretaro, Guanajuato, San Luis Potosi, Aguascalientes and the State of Mexico. Our mission was to present San Antonio as a secure destination, provide updates on what’s new as well as show connectivity through nonstop service from Guadalajara on Volaris and from Leon on VivaAerobus. As a partner of Mega Travel, we will also coordinate a webinar for its sales force in the fall timeframe. Mastercard Travel Rewards Mexico – San Antonio Pass by Mastercard
The San Antonio Pass by Mastercard launched July 5 and will run through Dec. 31. The program includes offers curated by Mastercard that will be promoted to all Mastercard credit card-holders in Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Panama. Mastercard is supporting these offers efforts through a paid digital campaign throughout Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Panama and will direct consumers to a Visit San Antonio Spanish landing page. On this landing page, consumers will be able to book hotel promotions through an exclusive link and redeem offers through a digital pass called the San Antonio Pass by Mastercard. If you have any questions or need additional information on this topic, please reach out to Francisco Gallegos at franciscogallegos@visitsanantonio.com.
Mexico In-Person Tour Operator Training
PETRA Operadora organized the first in-person event with travel agents in Mexico City on June 30. There were 250 travel agents who attended the event, where they heard presentations on San Antonio; Kissimmee, Fla., and Arizona. Because we participated in this event, PETRA Operadora will include San Antonio as one of the destinations that it will promote during its summer sales blitz. All attendees from the event have been added to the Visit San Antonio monthly newsletter to keep them constantly updated on all things San Antonio. If you have any questions about this topic or would like additional information, please contact Francisco Gallegos at franciscogallegos@visitsanantonio.com.
Expedia Summer Campaign
The Expedia Summer Campaign is off to a great start. The mid-campaign report for May 24–July 6 shows that there have been 40,000 room nights booked for a total revenue of $7 million.
The campaign runs from May 24–Aug. 6. The campaign includes digital ads that target the regional drive market. The digital ads link to a San Antonio destination landing page featuring local hotel offers or Best Available Rate (BAR). Please keep in mind that this is not a Si San Antonio-branded offer; this is a general short-term BAR call to action to drive short-term demand for hotels through Expedia.
