The Communications Department recorded $62,811 in outer-market earned-media value for August, the fifth full month under the effects of COVID-19. Coverage recorded for the month included WFAA-TV (Dallas ABC), Beaumont Enterprise, El Restaurante Magazine, H Texas, Frommer’s, Artistic Fuel, Meetings & Conventions, Growing Up Texas, Gentleman Racer, Invertour (Mexico), NITU (Mexico), Pasillo Turistico (Mexico) and La Agencia de Viajes (Mexico).

The top clips for August were a mix of travel inspiration and virtual experiences. The month’s new angle of story pitching focusing on an alternative to remote work locations paid off with fantastic coverage from WFAA-TV. The desire for road trips is also strong among consumers and media, which led to two strong stories in the top clips and additional coverage that helped with overall media hits and media value for the month:

WFAA-TV (Dallas ABC) “Good Morning Texas” – Work from Here in San Antonio

Frommer’s – 50+ Places to Find Free, Travel-Themed Virtual Backgrounds for Video Calls

Beaumont Enterprise – Let’s Go to San Antonio

H Texas – San Antonio is Open (Keep Your Distance)

  • Earned media value – $2,050
