The Communications Department recorded $57,104 in outer market earned media value from 10 media placements recorded in February, with the quantity and values still affected by the pandemic changes in media and travel. Coverage recorded for the month included WFAA-TV’s Good Morning Texas (DFW), Travel Awaits, Texas Border Business, Swept Away with Jennifer Broome, USAE, Meetings Today, Dimension Turistica (Mexico) and Turitips (Mexico).

February’s top media stories were a mix of the regional media focus and national media opportunities. Regional media continues to be a key in the recovery strategy as our partners see growth in week over week visitation from drive markets. This month’s fantastic WFAA-TV (DFW) was a result of continued relationship with a freelance travel reporter that will help inspire visitation to the city spurred by popular outdoor options.

Another of the month’s top clips is a part of the continued push for Mexican travelers, where San Antonio has regained all pre-pandemic connectivity and the flights are performing very well. With the assistance of our Mexico representative agency, we continue regular messaging in the top Mexican markets and media to help fuel continued strong travel which will likely increase once the land borders are reopened.
