The Communications Department recorded $91,189 in outer market earned media value from 12 media placements recorded in January, the ninth full month under the effects of COVID-19. Coverage recorded for the month included Nerdwallet, Family Vacation Critic, Super Tejano 102.1 (Rio Grande Valley), La Ley 102.5 (Rio Grande Valley), KURV-AM 710 Newstalk (Rio Grande Valley), Digital 101.5 (Rio Grande Valley), Hot 106.1 (Laredo), La Ley 100.5 (Laredo), La Lupe 89.1 (Rio Grande Valley), Classic 92.7 (Rio Grande Valley) and Travel Report (Mexico).
In January we were able to record the fruits of the hard labor in promoting San Antonio holiday travel to the key Rio Grande Valley and Laredo markets. Through a strong partnership with a radio network in both markets, Visit San Antonio was able to secure radio interviews, social media coverage and online posts promoting December and January travel to our city.
Though we continue to focus on regional media to help spur the quick-turnaround visitor San Antonio has seen during the last few months, Visit San Antonio was able to secure a couple of solid national media hits that featured San Antonio as the top travel destination in the state and region.
