The Communications Department recorded $8,451,012 in outer market earned media value for January. Secured media represents coverage for San Antonio and our partners, which maintains the destination top of mind for visitors worldwide. Coverage recorded for the month in major outlets included Univision, AARP, C-SPAN, Upscale Magazine, D Magazine, Delta Sky, Virtuoso Life, Red Tricycle, Family Vacation Critic, Smart Meetings, AAA Texas Journey, AAA World, Texas Highways, Texas Weddings and Everything Delish (Canada).

For this month were able to record the full calculated value for the various Univision network coverage of Day of the Dead San Antonio – it came to an impressive nearly $8 million in earned media value. In the second year of a dedicated push for Visit San Antonio Communications promoting all of the Dia de Muertos celebrations in the destination, the recognition and exposure for our city is really picking up pace.

A growing trend in travel is grandparents taking trips with their grandkids, leaving the kids’ parents at home. We have capitalized on this trend with an ongoing relationship with AARP and other lifestyle outlets covering this type of story.
