Over the past few months, Visit San Antonio has experienced a steady growth in membership. Starting the year with close to 500 members, we now count over 600 in our ranks. Things have been on the upswing as the city starts to teem with summer activity, fueled by both locals and visitors. As members prepare to staff up and plan for growth to meet demand, Visit San Antonio is working to provide the tools that help member businesses thrive.
As noted in other sections of this Executive Summary, members have had the opportunity to participate in site planning visits with our Destination Experience team, respond to leads from our Sales team for upcoming conventions, and respond to requests for proposals and service requests for Visit San Antonio-hosted events during Fiesta. Our team also had the chance to build rapport and better understand our members who participated in sales missions to Chicago and Washington, DC. These opportunities and more can be found in our members-only Extranet. If you have not already explored this portal, please be sure to do so. To request training or log-in credentials, email members@visitsanantonio.com.
Our membership team has also gotten the ball rolling on member activities and communications. Recent members-only events included a meet and greet mixer at the South Bank on the River Walk, a Certified Tourism Ambassador Certification Course, and a Hospitality and Tourism Job Fair. Visit San Antonio also partnered with the San Antonio Hotel & Lodging Association, San Antonio Visitor Alliance, and the Texas Restaurant Association – San Antonio to host a lunch and learn on the Economic Impact of San Antonio’s Hospitality Industry. Trinity University professors Dr. Richard Butler and Dr. Mary Stefl presented study findings for the years 2019-2020 – a baseline for the years of recovery to come. The presentation was followed by a partner panel discussion.
