May was a fantastic month of San Antonio media coverage, surpassing $3 million in earned media value for the first time since the start of the pandemic. The continued, always-on pitching and media hosting across the U.S. and Mexico, combined with fantastic coverage resulting from Fiesta and the recent Mexico Media Mission yielded the great media coverage for the month.

At the beginning of May, the Media Relations & Communications team was all across North America. Our team partnered with the Destination Sales department for our first return to a Washington, D.C. Media Mission since 2019. The team joined the Sales team for a special San Antonio storytellers’ event then had individual deskside meetings with media representing The Washington Post, Tiny Beans, National Geographic, Forbes, Budget Travel, The New York Times, Veranda, AFAR, TravelAge West, Conde Nast Traveler and Lonely Planet. At the same time, our team joined Travel Texas for our first trip north of the border for a Canada Media Mission.

At the end of the month, after months of work and preparation, the team traveled to Orlando for IPW 2022 in order to promote San Antonio and IPW 2023 (in San Antonio May 20-24, 2023!). Check back next month for a full recap of this June activity.

As the world slowly returns to a semblance of the pre-pandemic times, we aim for San Antonio to remain a destination-of-choice for millions of travelers each year. Please be sure to share with our Media Relations team what news you have for this summer and fall travel seasons, as well as any news upcoming for later in the year and into 2023 so we can help amplify your message
