The Visit San Antonio Government Relations Team is working with the U.S. Travel Association to secure support and encourage members of Congress to cosponsor the bipartisan Hospitality and Commerce Job Recovery Act (S. 477/H.R. 1346). As previously reported, The Hospitality and Commerce Job Recovery Act is an important bill that includes key provisions to provide temporary tax incentives to help restore business travel.
The bill would help generate $227 billion in economic activity that would not otherwise occur, aid in restoring the 2.8 million hospitality jobs that remain lost to the pandemic and contribute to the overall acceleration of travel’s recovery.
Please take a few minutes to let your member of Congress know of your support for the Hospitality and Commerce Job Recovery Act. You can do this simply and quickly by clicking on the hyperlink, provided by the US Travel Association: Support the Hospitality and Commerce Job Recovery Act.
As the completion of the 1st Called Special Session came to a quiet close at the beginning of August, Governor Greg Abbott quickly called a 2nd Called Special Session. The Government Relations Team anticipates the Governor will call multiple special sessions until several of his priority issues are adopted by the legislature. This process could last through the fall. Visit San Antonio will continue to monitor these activities and provide additional updates.
Visit San Antonio President & CEO, Marc Anderson, and the Government Relations Team have been meeting throughout August with City Council members. The meet-and-greet meetings have either been in-person or by Zoom with one meeting conducted by a council district tour.
We anticipate completion of these meetings by mid-September.
