September was a whirlwind month filled with international activity for the Communications team, as well as focusing on driving media coverage to ensure a strong end of summer visitation and began pitching for fall travel.

Throughout the month, the team was busy pitching the upcoming Day of the Dead and Holidays seasons to ensure San Antonio is a leader in media stories about traveling for those festivities.

In mid-September, the Communications team traveled to the IPW conference to meet many of the more than 200 attending national and international media to promote San Antonio as an immediate travel destination as well as the 2023 host of the conference.

The month closed with late nights and early mornings as the team participated in the virtual International Media Marketplace (IMM) Germany, securing more than two dozen virtual meetings with German media and social media influencers.

We appreciate our partners’ assistance and collaboration in this continued difficult time. It is thanks to your offerings, news and service that we can promote San Antonio to media everywhere and which allowed us to surpass our stretch goals for media placements and earned media value for the fiscal year that ended in September. The Communications team eclipsed the $4 million goal for earned media value, hauling over $6.5 million from San Antonio media coverage, and surpassed the 200 media placements goal with a total of 261. We look forward to our continued collaboration to ensure San Antonio is a top-of-mind destination for regional, national and international media and travelers.
