Our fiscal year kicked off in October with a special media and travel trade event in Mexico City to promote our city's fall and holiday offerings at the museum of renowned artist Sebastian, the creator of San Antonio's famed Torch of Friendship. As part of the celebration promoting the city, Visit San Antonio recognized the renowned sculptor for his 50th anniversary as a professional artist and his retrospective exhibition across San Antonio that opened later in October. San Antonio received proactive media attention from the event, and started fruitful media conversations that will result in further coverage in the near future.
The arts and culture theme continued in the month with the anticipated opening of Ruby City. The contemporary arts center has been lauded by the arts community and worldwide media for its distinctive architecture and remarkable collections and opening exhibitions. Visit San Antonio took advantage of this unique opportunity to showcase not only the new arts center but the arts scene and community as a whole to visiting media from the United States and Canada. After an extensive tour of the city, media were impressed with the breadth and depth of the art and culture offerings.
Visit San Antonio closed October with the start of the Day of the Dead celebrations across the city. Be sure to check back next month for additional details on the festivities and resulting media coverage.
