May was an excellent month as the recovery momentum continued bringing more media exposure and results from continuous media outreach by Visit San Antonio.

The beginning of the month brought the successful hosting of the Kidd Kraddick Morning Show live from the River Walk. This DFW-based nationally syndicated radio show was a strong win for our city as we kick off the summer travel push. In advance of the show’s live from San Antonio broadcast, the show teased their visit with a San Antonio interview. During the show, the radio personalities repeatedly discussed their love for the Alamo City and the wonders of being able to travel once again to our city. Several San Antonio-focused interviews and segments showcased what modern San Antonio is all about – appetizing cuisine, a unique Fiesta spirit, welcoming nature, diverse culture, celebration of history and surprising adventures.

Throughout the month, the Communications team continued its work with social media influencers to ensure San Antonio is top of mind with potential travelers of all ages and interests. Influencers from across Texas and Mexico remain a priority to ensure travelers who can quickly and easily get here get a warm invitation and taste of our destination.

The end of May brought the launch of the Si San Antonio campaign with a coordinated marketing and editorial media push. The Communications team began pitching media in April and several stories hit just in time for the launch. Television and radio interviews were secured in San Antonio’s top feeder markets including Houston, DFW, Austin, the Rio Grande Valley and Laredo.

As we continue pitching San Antonio as a travel destination for summer, we’ll lean in further into telling the story of what positive news the rest of 2021 brings, including the openings of hotels, restaurants, attractions and exhibitions. Many fantastic local businesses have opened or are about to open that it will certainly tell the story of San Antonio’s recovery from the pandemic. If you have news to tell, please be sure to share with Visit San Antonio so we may help amplify the news as possible and appropriate.
