December offered the opportunity for the Communications team to spread San Antonio’s unique brand of Fiesta-infused holiday cheer with media near and far. By joining forces with Destination Sales and Experience, we celebrated the season and fostered relationships with key media in Austin and Dallas at Visit San Antonio’s annual Tamalada client events. Media attendees included freelance writers for regional and national outlets and representatives from publications including Texas Highways and Texas Monthly.

The holiday season wasn’t only about delicious tamales. Visit San Antonio also welcomed four fitness-focused influencers and media from Mexico to take part in the 2019 Humana Rock & Roll Half Marathon on December 8. The runners took in the sites of the city on the 13.1-mile course and shared their experiences preparing for the race, enjoying post-race festivities and exploring the city with their vast audiences of followers on social media and with readers of Elle Mexico and Access Live.

When the San Antonio Spurs took on the Phoenix Suns in Mexico City on December 14, Visit San Antonio welcomed eight high-profile guests to take in all the action at the Arena Ciudad de Mexico. Attendees included actor and TV host Faisy, well-known ballerina Iratxe Beorlegui, actress and model Adrian Louvier, Brazilan model and fitness influencer Guto Salas, TV and radio host Arturo Palacios, actor, comedian and writer Isaac Salame, news anchor Chumel Torres and YouTube influencer Marisol de la Fuente. The attending influencers shared their Spurs spirit with their followers and learned more about collaborating with Visit San Antonio.

As we kick off a new year, we’re thrilled that San Antonio has been named to AFAR Magazine’s prestigious list of “Where to Go in 2020.” AFAR is one of the most respected experiential travel publications today, and this recognition underscores our efforts to highlight the city as an authentic and fulfilling destination for travelers.
