As is the case in many years, but more so impacted by the pandemic, January was a somewhat slow month for travel media coverage as people return their attention from the holidays. The Visit San Antonio Communications team remained hard at work pitching media for immediate travel stories. Though we continue to focus on regional media to help spur the quick-turnaround visitor San Antonio has seen during the last few months, Visit San Antonio was able to secure a couple of solid national media hits that featured San Antonio as the top travel destination in the state and region.

Also in January, the team started planning and planting seeds for spring travel coverage. The outdoor adventures that have become so popular during the pandemic will feature greatly among this pitching. Through research, we know travelers are also looking for comfortable places to visit and a mix of new experiences – both of which San Antonio has in spades and we will promote heavily.

The Communications team continued the work began in fall 2020 – telling the story of what positive news 2021 will bring, including the openings of hotels, restaurants, attractions and exhibitions. Many fantastic local restaurants and unique hotels have opened or are about to open, and it will certainly tell the story of San Antonio’s recovery from the pandemic. If you have news to tell, please be sure to share with Visit San Antonio so we may help amplify the news as possible and appropriate.
