January was a busy start to the calendar year for the Communications team with media visits, media missions and filming. The new year kicked off with wonderful exposure for San Antonio on C-SPAN as part of their Cities Tour. The national cable network featured various angles of the destination including our history, culture, people and food.
The first month of the year also marks the annual tradition of the city’s Cocktail Conference which draws interest from industry and lifestyle media. Visit San Antonio partnered with the event to showcase the culinary and mixology, along with the rest of the city’s offerings, to national media including The Local Palate and Tribeza.
The Communications team also took our message to two important media hubs – Los Angeles and New York City. Los Angeles was up first with a media mission that included meetings with media representing USA Today, Forbes, Food & Wine, Fodor’s, Thrillist, AAA Westways and AAA Texas Journey, among others. In New York City, the team participated in the International Media Marketplace – a speed-dating-style event with more than a dozen meetings in a single day – as well as had individual media desk-sides. In the individual meetings, the team met with Hemispheres, AFAR, Martha Stewart Living, Food & Wine, O – the Oprah Magazine, Chicago Tribune, Virtuoso Life Magazine, Sale el Sol (Mexico), Luxe and Class (Mexico) and Excelsior (Mexico).
