Dear Valued Partners,
Happy New Year! I hope you and your families enjoyed a joyful and restful holiday season as we begin 2026 with renewed purpose and optimism.
This is the time of year that invites reflection and unity as our nation honors the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a leader whose unwavering commitment to justice, service, and equality continues to inspire communities across the country. San Antonio is proud to host one of the largest Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebrations and marches in the nation.
This powerful tradition reflects who we are as a city and reinforces those values that make us Unmistakably San Antonio. We invite you to explore the many MLK Day events and activities taking place throughout our community. Learn more at visitsanantonio/DreamWeek.
Here are some highlights from the previous month.
SATPID Annual Renewal – San Antonio’s City Council renewed the San Antonio Tourism Public Improvement District for another year. We appreciate the hotel community for their participation in this district and for providing funding that supports demand, tourism sales, and marketing initiatives. Learn more at satpid.com.
San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium – 2025 marked the 48th year of the Breast Cancer Symposium, one of the nation’s most significant scientific events. More than 11,500 researchers, academics, practitioners, patients, and their advocates attended this year’s event. The Symposium infused over $15 million into the local economy and supported over 4,600 local jobs.
As you may know, the city’s Office of Historic Preservation is leading the effort to develop a strategic plan for the San Antonio River Walk. To help build the framework for this plan, the city published a River Walk survey to gather feedback. I encourage you to lend your voice so your valuable insights can help shape a better, more vibrant River Walk. Participate in the survey on the city’s SA Speak website at saspeakup.com/RiverWalk.

With warm regards,
Mario Bass
