SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The San Antonio Parks Foundation, in partnership with the City of San Antonio, will host the H-E-B Fourth of July Celebration on Friday, July 4th at Woodlawn Lake Park from 11am to 9:30pm

This FREE, family-friendly celebration offers a full day of activities, beginning with fitness sessions at 8:00 am and vendor booths opening at 11am. We're excited to welcome back the beloved Fourth of July Carnival at Woodlawn Lake Park, presented by AC Amusements! Carnival rides and games will be available—tickets or wristbands can be purchased on-site. The park itself will be dressed for the occasion, with American flags and festive décor setting a vibrant, patriotic backdrop for the day. Throughout the event, attendees can also look forward to fun giveaways and surprises from participating vendors and sponsors. Get ready to crunch into freedom this 4th of July with Southern Recipe Small Batch Pork rinds giveaway—because nothing says fireworks like a tasty, salty snack! 

Start your 4th of July at Woodlawn Lake Park with free Water Aerobics (8–9 am) and Zumba (9–11 am), thanks to San Antonio Parks & Rec. No registration is needed. Kids 10 and under must be with an adult. 

Join us from 11am to 9:30pm for a day full of July Fourth favorites—BBQ, tacos, turkey legs, aguas frescas, mangonadas, cold drinks, and of course, CHICKEN ON A STICK! Enjoy carnival rides like the Mind Winder, Swing Ride, Tubs of Fun, and more. DJ Celebr8 will keep the energy high with live music and fresh beats! 

Other participants include Ready to Work San Antonio, which helps residents gain skills and opportunities, voter registration booths by Radical Registrars, and the Spurs merch truck. 

Children’s activities with the San Antonio Public Library will run from 11am to 2pm near the playground pavilion. Wrestling demonstrations by Texas Wrestling & Entertainment will take place from 12pm to 5pm. The Welcome Salute, featuring Bexar County Commissioners and City Council members, begins at 7pm. 

TX1015 Sweet Onion Eating Contest New this year at San Antonio’s Official 4th of July Celebration – don’t miss the TX1015 Sweet Onion Eating Contest! Visitors can stop by the TX1015 Sweet Onion Booth to sign up for the contest, snap a photo, pick up fun SWAG (while supplies last), and learn about our official state vegetable. The contest is free to enter, and all sign-ups will happen onsite. Swing by the booth to learn more and join the fun! Giveaways + a prize package for the winner! 

The grand finale kicks off at 9pm with a dazzling Patriotic Display, including a drone show presented by Google Fiber and a spectacular fireworks show presented by H-E-B

Tips for celebrating at Woodlawn Lake Park: 

  • No overnight camping before, during, or after July 4. 
  • Alcohol is prohibited. 
  • Respect the neighborhood — clean up after yourself using trash bags or bins. 
  • Don’t block driveways or ignore parking signs; towing and tickets will be enforced. 
  • Bring lawn chairs/blankets, water, sunscreen, umbrellas, and hats for comfort.
