San Antonio has the best river walk in the country, according to USA Today.
The Alamo City took the top spot in USA Today’s 10 Best list for best river walks across the U.S. in 2026.
The publication said its expert panel nominated 10 river walks for the list, which were ranked by readers who submitted their votes.
USA Today cited the river walk’s restaurants, hotels, “picturesque” stone footbridges and outdoor amphitheater as highlights of the city’s famed local attraction.
“The history of the iconic San Antonio River Walk as we know it today dates back to the creation of the San Antonio River Authority in 1937. Since then, this vibrant downtown attraction keeps getting better and better.
One of the best things about the San Antonio River Walk is that it's within walking distance to other popular attractions, including the Alamo, according to the publication.
San Antonio’s River Walk has been on USA Today’s top 10 best river walks list since 2014, but it has not had the top spot since 2017. In 2025, San Antonio was ranked #10.
Trailing San Antonio were the Tampa Riverwalk in Florida, Waterfront Park in Louisville, Ky., and Smale Riverfront Park in Cincinnati.
