3 Days in San Antonio: A Girls' Getaway Itinerary

Long Weekend | Boutique Hotels, Drag Brunch, Spa Days & Late Nights

Planning a girls’ trip to San Antonio? Whether you’re organizing a bachelorette weekend, celebrating a milestone, or finally taking that long-overdue getaway with friends, San Antonio offers the perfect mix of boutique hotels, brunch spots, spa experiences, rooftop cocktails, live music, and unforgettable dining.

What sets a San Antonio girls’ getaway apart is the city itself: the iconic River Walk, walkable historic neighborhoods, colorful arts districts, and a culinary culture recognized by UNESCO. Between MICHELIN-recognized restaurants, creative workshops, late-night entertainment, and centuries of culture woven into every neighborhood, this is more than a typical weekend trip.

This long weekend itinerary brings it all together with group-friendly experiences across the Pearl District, Southtown, La Villita, the River Walk, and downtown San Antonio.

Thursday: Arrive and Start Your Girls' Weekend

Best for: Dropping your bags, finding your footing, and easing into the weekend without overthinking it

San Antonio's downtown core is compact and walkable, so the best of the city is just steps from wherever you're staying.

San Antonio rewards the visitor who arrives without a packed itinerary on night one. Thursday is for settling in, claiming your first drink, and letting the city set the mood.

Where to Stay

Two boutique hotels anchor opposite ends of the Pearl District experience.

Hotel Emma is a converted 19th-century brewhouse with the kind of character that can't be designed from scratch, with exposed ironwork, original brick, and a sense of history that doesn't try too hard.

Lobby area with trendy seating and foosball table

Canopy by Hilton San Antonio Riverwalk is a sleek, contemporary option steps from the River Walk, ideal if your group wants to be in the center of the action from the moment you check in.

Evening

Once you're settled, the night is yours, and your hotel has you covered.

Hotel Emma guests: Head to Sternewirth, the hotel's signature bar and kitchen, for craft cocktails and a menu that leans into Texas comfort with a refined edge. It's the kind of place where you order one more round without having to think about it.

Canopy guests: Start at Otro, the hotel's lively cocktail bar, for drinks before walking over to Domingo for dinner with a vibrant, color-saturated dining room serving Mexican-inspired dishes that photograph as well as they taste.

Insider tip: Thursday nights at the Pearl are quieter than on the weekend, making it the best time to explore without crowds. Walk the grounds after dinner and get your bearings before Friday picks up the pace.

Friday: Explore San Antonio's Neighborhoods, Shopping & Nightlife

Biking Southtown

Best for: Getting under the skin of San Antonio's most creative neighborhoods, making something with your hands, and ending the night with live music

Morning

Start the day in the Pearl District, one of San Antonio's most walkable and photogenic neighborhoods. Grab breakfast at Larder, then take a slow walk along the Museum Reach, the northern stretch of the San Antonio River Walk that winds past public art installations, green spaces, and some of the most scenic views on the water. It's the River Walk at its most relaxed, and the best possible way to ease into the day before heading south.

Mid-Morning

Make your way to Southtown, San Antonio's arts district, where independent galleries, murals, and boutiques line the streets around South Alamo and South St. Mary's. Stop into the Blue Star Arts Complex, a converted warehouse that houses working artist studios, galleries, and some of the most interesting creative energy in the city. It's free to browse and worth at least an hour.

Afternoon

Head to La Villita, San Antonio's oldest neighborhood and one of its most charming, for a hands-on workshop that's one of the more memorable things you can do in the city. La Villita is small and walkable. Give yourself time to wander the courtyard and browse the artisan shops before or after your workshop.

At Scentchips, you design your own luxury wax melt, choosing from an extensive range of fragrance combinations to create a custom scent that's yours to take home. It's tactile, personal, and the kind of thing you'll actually use after the trip.

Next door, Capistrano Soap Company offers two-hour workshops in soapmaking, fresh-produce facials, and candlemaking, rotating options that give the group something to choose from based on mood.

Insider Tip: Book ahead; these fill up, especially on weekends.

Jazz-TX-700x500

Evening

Dinner tonight is at Supper, at Hotel Emma, a restaurant built around relationships with South Texas farmers, where the menu changes with the seasons and every dish reflects what's actually growing right now. Heirloom vegetables, local honey, ethically raised meats, creative cocktails, and a wine list worth taking your time with.

Insider Tip: Reservations are strongly recommended.

After dinner, take the night in one of two directions. Jazz TX at the Pearl is one of the best live music venues in the city, a sophisticated room with world-class performers and a full bar that keeps the energy going well past midnight. If it's a bachelorette party you're after, Howl at the Moon is perfect for a lively night of drinks, fun, live music, and energy.

Or head to The Espee, a larger venue housed in a historic Southern Pacific Railroad depot in St. Paul Square, for a different-scale live music experience. Check both calendars before your trip and book tickets for whoever's playing.

Saturday: Brunch, Wellness & Rooftop Nightlife

Back to Top of List

Paramour at the Phipps Rooftop Bar

Best for: Sleeping in, showing up for a show, and spending the afternoon at your own pace before the best night of the weekend

Morning

There's only one way to start a Saturday on a girls' trip: Paramour's drag brunch. Held on Saturday and Sunday mornings, it's a full production, complete with performances, bottomless drinks, and a crowd there to have a genuinely good time. Paramour sits on the rooftop of the Travis Club building with sweeping downtown views, which means even the setting is doing the work.

Insider Tip: Book ahead; it sells out.

Mokara Hotel & Spa Interior Spa Pool

Midday

After brunch, let the afternoon slow down at Mokara Hotel & Spa, one of San Antonio's most celebrated spa destinations. Set along the River Walk, Mokara offers a full menu of treatments from massages and facials to body wraps and the tranquil atmosphere is a genuine counterpoint to the morning's energy.

Book treatments in advance, especially for weekend slots.

Late Afternoon

When you're ready to move again, walk over to the King William Historic District, a beautifully preserved neighborhood of 19th-century mansions just south of downtown. It's one of San Antonio's most photographable stretches — wide, tree-lined streets, ornate architecture, and a pace that invites wandering without a destination.

Evening

Dinner is at Four Brothers at the historic Omni La Mansión del Rioa Southern-inflected menu in one of San Antonio's most storied hotel dining rooms, set along the River Walk. The setting does as much as the food: warm lighting, river views, and a room that feels like a celebration even on a regular night.

Night

It's Saturday night - time to experience the city's nightlife!

Start at Amelia Social Lounge, a moody, sophisticated cocktail bar housed in the former machinery room of the historic Borden's Creamery. Low lighting, eclectic decor, craft cocktails, and an atmosphere that feels like stepping into another era. It's the kind of place that sets the tone for the rest of the night.

From there, head downtown to Deco Bar at the InterContinental San Antonio, a classic hotel lobby bar reimagined with artisanal cocktails, plush finishes, and well-informed service. Order something off their creative cocktail menu and take your time; the night is still early and there's plenty to do.

When you're ready to turn it up, take the elevator to the third floor and step out onto High Praise Rooftop Bar. Vinyl DJs, live music, poolside seating, downtown views, and a crowd that's there to have a genuinely great time.

Pro tip: Deco Bar and High Praise are in the same building, so the crawl from one to the other is literally an elevator ride. No rideshare required.

Sunday: Brunch, River Walk Views & Departure

Back to Top of List

Best for: A slow morning, a last look at the city, and leaving with something to talk about on the drive home

Brunch

Two excellent options, depending on where your group lands Sunday morning.

If you're near the Pearl, Mezquite inside Pullman Market is a standout, a menu rooted in the wood-fired cooking traditions of Northern Mexico, served in one of the most atmospheric dining rooms in the district. Bold flavors, beautiful space, and a brunch menu worth lingering over.

If you're closer to the River Walk, Zocca Cuisine d'Italia at The Westin Riverwalk offers a riverside patio and a menu that blends Texas comfort with Italian-inflected brunch dishes. For a truly memorable send-off, consider a seasonal Go Rio Cruises Brunch Cruisea 90-minute narrated river journey featuring chef-selected dishes.

Late Morning

Before you hit the road, take one last walk along the River Walk. Sunday morning is when the city exhales. The crowds haven't arrived yet, the water is quiet, and the 15-mile stretch through downtown feels like it belongs to you. Walk as far as you feel like, duck into a shop, or just sit on a patio and let the weekend settle. It's the kind of ending that makes the drive home feel a little easier.
