At the start of autumn, the Historic Pearl comes alive with outdoor markets, live performances, and beautiful artwork. Currently displayed throughout Pearl are calaveras and alebrijes celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month and the upcoming Día de los Muertos festivities. After some seasonal shopping, take a short walk along the Museum Reach portion of the River Walk over to Elsewhere Garden Bar & Kitchen to enjoy the weekend happenings. On your way, look for two breathtaking public art installations, F.I.S.H. and The Grotto.
BYE BYE BIRDIE
Did you know that fall is a prime bird-watching season in San Antonio? Lucky for you, you can tune into nature at Mitchell Lake Audubon Center, a birding hotspot, to spot migratory birds and local species. Get the whole experience by booking a Sunday morning guided bird tour. But if an evening on the green is more your speed, trade birds for birdies. Tee off at one of the many golf courses in the 210, including The Quarry Golf Course and the Alamo City Golf Trail.
RIVER WALK BLISS
The iconic San Antonio River Walk is a treat in any season, but fall adds a layer of charm. As you meander along the riverbanks, you’ll be surrounded by trees dressed in their fall finest. Grab a seat at a riverside restaurant and enjoy a delicious meal while enjoying the picturesque scenery and cooler weather. If you’re visiting the last weekend in October, get your tickets to the Day of the Dead San Antonio River Parade!
VISIT OUR HISTORIC MISSIONS
Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site (the only one in Texas!), San Antonio Missions National Historical Park is free and open to the public and a great way to immerse yourself in the city’s rich history.
Travel between the four Catholic missions – Concepción, San José, San Juan, and Espada – on foot, hiking, or biking along the Mission Reach portion of the River Walk. Close your quest by heading to the fifth mission, the world-renowned Alamo in downtown San Antonio.
