National Travel and Tourism Week is right around the corner! May 3-11, 2014 is our week to celebrate everything that the travel and tourism industry contributes to San Antonio. Together, we host 30 million visitors a year and employ one out of eight San Antonians. Additionally, the hospitality industry generates $12 billion into our local economy annually, making it a vital asset to San Antonio’s economic health.
National Travel & Tourism Week champions the power of travel and is celebrated in numerous cities and ways across the country. In support of this, your CVB is meeting with local business leaders, community organizations and government officials to message the industry’s positive contributions to San Antonio’s economy, business development, employment and overall quality of life. We are also reaching out to local media to share this story with the citizens of San Antonio.
We hope you take time to enjoy a few of the many events that honor your hard work and service to our industry. Please help us spread the word by sharing with your staff!
But first, mark your calendar and make plans to join the San Antonio tourism community for the official kickoff and declaration of National Travel and Tourism Week at the City Council Proclamation, Wednesday, April 30, 5-6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. Please wear your company shirt or uniform to distinguish yourself as a member of the hospitality industry. A reception will immediately follow; please stick around and RSVP to shannasmith@visitsanantonio.com. Details to come.
