Travel around the world and across 5,000 years with a visit to the San Antonio Museum of Art (SAMA). On the banks of the Museum Reach of the river, SAMA is housed in the historic 1883 complex of buildings that was once home to the Lone Star Brewery. Today, the Museum is renowned for one of the most comprehensive ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian art collections in the southern United States. The Nelson A. Rockefeller Latin American art wing spans the ages from the ancient Americas to the present and includes an outstanding collection of folk art. In the contemporary galleries, works of internationally recognized artists share prominence with notable Texas and regional art. The comprehensive Asian art wing displays works from Korea, India, and Japan, and includes an important Chinese ceramics collection. SAMA’s restaurant, Tre Trattoria serves Chef Jason Dady’s award-winning cuisine in a terraced building overlooking the river. Visit SAMA’s website today to view hours of operation and events, or book your next group tour.
