Maverick Carter House
Preserving history. And, inspiring learning through music, poetry, and astronomy, with the legacy of Aline Carter. The Maverick Carter House, located in downtown San Antonio, boasts educational programming and venue rental opportunities for locals and visitors alike. The three-story limestone Maverick Carter House was constructed by English architect, Alfred Giles in 1893 for real estate developer William Harvey Maverick, son of Texas Declaration of Independence Signer Samuel Augustus Maverick. The house was designed with multiple parlors and bedrooms, and boasts significant interior materials including bird’s eye maple and oak wainscoting, hard pine doors and window frames, sandstone mantelpieces, and parquet floors. The Carter family purchased the home in 1914 and are still the owners. Today, the house is a Texas Historic Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Maverick Carter House hosts educational events throughout the year and lends itself to hosting elevated private parties and corporate events.
