Things to Do, See, & Explore

  • Tamales have been part of Christmas traditions for centuries, but have you ever tried your hand at making them? You’ll have the chance to try your hands at tamale-making through events like: La Gran Tamalada at Market Square or at The Witte Museum’s Tamalada.
  • Continue discovering an age old tradition during Posada at Pearl. The event is inspired by the nine-day celebration of Mexico’s Las Posadas and includes a reenactment of Mary and Joseph’s journey.
  • Grab some last-minute gifts from local, regional and national artisans at one of our neighborhood markets. The Pearl Holiday Night Market includes a variety of holiday gifts.
  • If you’re looking for something with a handmade touch stop by the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center’s Hecho a Mano, celebrating San Antonio’s westside artisan community for over 30 years.
  • Catch a show at one of our theatres, including the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, the Majestic, Empire and Aztec theatres or the Carver Cultural Community Center, are plenty of shows to get into and stay in the holiday spirit.
  • If attending a Christmas mass is part of your family’s holiday tradition, you can observe mass at one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Missions or San Fernando Cathedral.
