Different tribes and people groups have developed their own systems and styles of baby carriers based on their unique cultures, ways of living, weather, customs and aesthetic experiences. Baby-carrying styles offer insight to child-rearing methods, religion, social structure and craftwork of cultures. Body-carrying offers the baby a sense of safety and enhances the closeness between the parent & child. Underlying them all is the universal foundation of love, affection and devotion of parenthood. Selena Forever/Siempre Selena

The McNay pays tribute to 90s icon, singer, designer, and Texas legend—Selena Quintanilla-Pérez—with five photographs by award-winning San Antonio photographer John Dyer. Selena was the subject of Dyer’s photo assignments for the cover of Más Magazine in 1992 and again for Texas Monthly in 1995, just months before she was tragically killed at age 23. Selena Forever/Siempre Selena is organized by the McNay Art Museum, curated by Kate Carey, Head of Education. Included with General Admission. Fashion Nirvana: Runway to Everyday

Los Maestros: Early Explorers of Chicano Identity

This exhibition focuses on three of the founders of San Antonio’s Chicano arts movement of the 1960s and 1970s: Jesse Almazan, Jose Esquivel, and Rudy Treviño and will highlight their unique contributions and histories as individual artists.
