YOSA Winter Concerts
December 19 and 20, 2020, YOSA will present their first concerts of the 2020/21
season at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts. These six concerts will mark the first time YOSA
musicians have performed on stage since March 2020.
All concerts are free, but tickets are required in the H-E-B Performance Hall and are limited to five per
family. Tickets can be reserved at music.yosa.org/concerts. To ensure the safety of attendees, YOSA
will follow all safety protocols in place by the Tobin Center (more information on protocols can be found
at https://www.tobincenter.org/covid-safety-protocols). Additionally, all six concerts will be livestreamed
at yosa.org/watchlive to allow family, friends, and supporters to enjoy the performances from afar.
The weekend of concerts opens with YOSA Winter Showcase, a festival of music featuring the young
musicians of YOSA in four different concert showcases. Each evening will conclude with YOSA Zachry
Series: Winter Serenade, featuring the YOSA Philharmonic and YOSA Wind Players.
YOSA Zachry Series: Winter Serenade a program of lush string orchestra music to warm a winter
evening. The orchestra also celebrates African-American music with traditional spirituals and music by
William Grant Still, the first Black composer to have a symphony performed by a major orchestra. Each
YOSA Zachry Series concert will open with a performance by a chamber ensemble of YOSA’s most
advanced wind players, a wind quintet on Saturday and a brass quintet on Sunday.
