SAMMinistries 19th Annual Empty Bowls
The San Antonio Potters Guild, Southwest School of Art, the San Antonio Glass Art Guild and SAMMinistries join forces each year for Empty Bowls, an international event held annually around the world to bring attention to the plight of the poor. Shoppers have the opportunity to purchase handmade bowls, accompanied by a serving of soup and bread donated by local restaurants, caterers, and bakeries. The empty bowl serves as a reminder of all those who do not have enough to eat. Last year this family-friendly event was attended by more than a thousand local San Antonians and raised over $83,000! For each bowl purchased for $25, guests will also enjoy delicious soup and bread from local restaurants, catering companies and hotels.
Since 2000, Empty Bowls has raised nearly $600,000 to support families and individuals right here in San Antonio who are homeless or on the brink of housing disaster.
