“We invite all college football fans to come join us during this fundraiser and meet Rudy Ruettiger, whose personal story and time playing for Notre Dame has inspired people everywhere to not let any obstacles get in the way of pursuing their dreams,” Kurth said.
McFadden added “We had Rudy speak at our business function a while back and we really hit it off! His talk was amazing and transformed our business! When I called him about Larry and me running together to raise more money for scholarships, Rudy said ‘Count me in!’ ”
Against all odds on a gridiron in South Bend, Ind., “Rudy” Ruettiger carved his name into history books as perhaps the most inspiring graduate of the University of Notre Dame, according to his official website. As fans cheered “Ru-dy! Ru-dy! he sacked the quarterback in the last 27 seconds of the only play in the only game of his college football career. He is the first player in the school’s history to be carried off the field on the shoulders of his teammates.
Today, Ruettiger is an Emmy Award winning motivational keynote speaker, author and producer with over 25 years of experience speaking to corporations, universities, sports teams and at special events. His powerful message of “Never Quit” and Yes I Can” comes from his personal experiences of adversity and triumph of achieving his dream to attend University of Notre Dame and play for the Fighting Irish. In 1993, Tristar Productions immortalized Rudy’s life story with the blockbuster film, “Rudy.” The film continues to inspire millions worldwide.
