Phil Hardberger Park and Robert L.B. Tobin Land Bridge
13203 Blanco Rd.
San Antonio, TX 78216

See and feel the wild at Hardberger Park! This 330-acre former dairy farm is an oasis surrounded culinary destinations and shopping centers. It is a stunning landscape, with some of its trees having stood here since the Battle of the Alamo. Today, Hardberger Park continues its development with the future of the park being complete with a nature center, dog parks, play areas and walking, hiking and biking trails.
Robert L.B. Tobin Land Bridge
Part of the continued development includes the Robert L.B. Tobin Land Bridge, the first in the world designed for the safe passage of both wildlife and people. At 150-feet long and 150-feet wide, it opened December 2020 and is the largest wildlife crossing constructed to date in the United States. Built across the busy lanes of Wurzbach Parkway, the Land Bridge unifies the previously divided 330-acre Hardberger Park located in north central San Antonio. Pedestrians and animals traversing the Land Bridge will have the experience of climbing a peaceful hill, unaware of the roadway below. The natural experience will be enhanced over time as native trees and plants such as live oak, mountain laurel and persimmon fill in the landscape across the bridge. Amenities such as wildlife viewing blinds designed by local artists Cade Bradshaw and Ashley Mireles and a Skywalk that gently climbs through the treetops leading to the bridge offer park visitors unique new ways to connect with nature.
Visitors may access the Robert L.B. Tobin Land Bridge crossing from the Northwest Military park entrance (8400 NW Military Highway) via the Savanna Loop trail or from the Blanco Road entrance (13203 Blanco Road) via the Water Loop trail. Parking for the Land Bridge and Hardberger Park is available at both entrances. The park is also accessible via the Salado Creek Greenway. Cyclists are welcome on the bridge but must walk their bicycles across.
