Date nights are my favorite. Early in our relationship, my now wife Deya and I did a winter photo walk on the River Walk. We stopped at the Esquire Tavern for a cocktail, visited the Christmas Tree in front of the Alamo and then accessed the rooftop pool of the Hyatt Regency. We took the most beautiful downtown photos from that spot. It truly was the perfect evening and continues to be the inspiration for our date nights.

Some of my favorite San Antonio experiences have been on a date night. Every August, on my husband Nan’s birthday, we find a rooftop to visit. One year, we did a staycation at the St. Anthony Hotel where we spent the afternoon soaking up some sun and staying cool in their beautiful rooftop pool. We had dinner at The Palm during San Antonio Restaurant Week and the next morning we took a scooter down to Southtown for brunch at Liberty Bar. This is just one example of a gorgeous date night with Nan.

We love to plan nights out that we can check out two or three spots within walking distance. Go to dinner at Cookhouse, listen to a band playing at Paper Tiger and grab a cocktail at Rumble. Another idea would be to walk down Alamo Street for First Friday, check out the art, enjoy dinner at Bliss and end the evening at Bar 1919 for a cocktail in a hidden, speakeasy style spot. We also love going to Pearl for dinner at one of the many amazing restaurants and then go to a show at Jazz, TX.
