Celebrate Veterans Day with These Patriotic Events in November
Every year we recognize, celebrate and honor the brave men and women who have served our country. Veterans Day falls on November 11th, but there are opportunities to celebrate veterans all month long in San Antonio, Military City USA.
Here are some ways to show your patriotism throughout the month in the Alamo City:
Zoo Salutes at the San Antonio Zoo
Visit the San Antonio Zoo all November long for Zoo Salutes, presented by the USAA Foundation. Throughout the month of November active duty, retired, and veteran members of the military, reserves, or national guard will receive free admission to the zoo.
Military family members are able to take advantage of savings as well. Up to four immediate family members accompanying veterans and active military professionals will receive 50% off single-day tickets on the visit. To receive complimentary admission, military members must show a valid Military I.D.
Waves of Honor from SeaWorld San Antonio
From now until December 31, 2022, SeaWorld San Antonio is saluting our armed forces’ brave men and women through Waves of Honor. During Waves of Honor, active-duty military, reservists, or national guards will receive one complimentary ticket yearly to SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, or Sesame Street.

Military Appreciation Family Day at The Alamo
Join The Alamo on Friday, November 11 from 10am to 3pm as they celebrate, honor and recognize active, reserve, and former military service members. At Military Appreciation Family Day guests will be treated to an opening ceremony with a presentation of colors, music and remarks and every service member will receive free audio tours and commemorative Alamo pins. Spend the day with veteran musicians, displays, and more!
Doc Watkins and Friends Salute to Troops
On Friday, November 11th, enjoy Doc Watkins and Friends Salute to Troops at The Tech Port Center + Arena. Doc Watkins is an accomplished pianist and singer based in San Antonio. He is also the creator and co-host of the weekly radio program Live at Jazz, TX.
Enjoy a variety show featuring a wide range of musical talent and comedic performances – from big names to up-and-comers to celebrate America’s military in a Hollywood-style production benefiting the USO San Antonio. Tickets can be purchased online.
Celebrate Veterans Weekend at Six Flags Fiesta Texas
Six Flags Fiesta Texas celebrates veterans all weekend long at Six Flags Veterans Weekend. Join Six Flags Fiesta Texas for a flag-raising ceremony and presentation of colors. Enjoy bands and entertainment celebrating the red, white, and blue – including the Freedom Brass quintet from the US Air Force Band of the West and the Red, White, and Blue Brass Band. Your favorite Looney Tunes characters are also celebrating and will be featured throughout the park in their patriotic attire. Plus, veterans, active duty, and retired military personnel will be treated to complimentary park admission, parking, and more!
Endeavors Veterans Day Run at Hemisfair
Head over to Hemsifair for a day full of events. First up, check out the Endeavors Veterans Day Run, honoring those who have served in the armed forces, on November 12th, beginning at 8:30 am and lasting until 2:00 pm.
Runners of all skill levels are encouraged to apply as there are several distance options available, including the 5k and 10k walk/run, the 5k run/ruck (Ruckers are required to carry a minimum of 10lbs), as well as a 2k at-your-own-pace walk.
Not able to attend? Have no fear, there is also a virtual run/walk, open for participation until November 30th.

SA Veterans Day at Hemisfair
Following the Endeavors Veterans Day Run, stay at Hemisfair on November 12th, from 12-8:00 pm, for the second annual SA Veterans Day at Hemisfair. This event, held at Yanaguana Garden, will include live music with headliner Coffey Anderson, food and beverages, a laser light show presented by CPS energy, an all-Veteran group parachute jump, and restored military vehicles, uniforms, and equipment offered by Southeast Living History Association.
Enjoy Veteran’s Day family activities, including Legoland Discovery Center flag-building activity, jellyball, face painting, patriotic stilt walkers with Aqua Acro, No Limits rock wall with Mark Welman, and more!
The first 500 attendees will receive a commemorative poster created by Maria and Manola. So, come out to support our military family and have fun.
United States Military Veterans Parade
Also happening Saturday, November 11th is the United States Military Veterans Parade. Brought to you by the U.S. Military Veterans Parade Association, this year’s parade begins at 12 noon and starts at the intersection of Avenue E and 4th street – please note, this is a new location if you have attended this parade in the past.
