Downtown/Southtown This route begins near the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, winds past the Alamo, and then heads south through the La Villita Historical Arts Village, San Antonio's first settlement. Next you'll wind through the artsy Southtown area, including the Blue Star Arts Complex, a repurposed warehouse district and the tree-lined King William Historic District, which showcases late-1800s mansions. including the first National Trust Site in Texas, the Villa Finale. This route is an intriguing blend of both urban and residential areas. |
River Walk Museum Reach Make your way along the newest section of the River Walk, which starts just north of the more commercial section in downtown San Antonio. Begin at the Lexington Avenue Bridge and continue to the San Antonio Museum of Art. Notice the unusual art pieces along the way-- some including sound, and continue to the newly renovated Pearl Brewery complex, an emerging urban village and plan your trip so you're at the Pearl on Saturday morning for the weekly farmers market |

Metro Health to Lexington This easy, scenic run or hike begins at San Antonio's Metropolitan Health District. You'll see the Spanish Governor's Palace, a National Historic Landmark built in the 18th century. You'll see the newly renovated Main Plaza, a thriving cultural gathering place. San Fernando Cathedral, founded in 1731, faces onto Main Plaza. Descend below street level to the River Walk and enjoy the quaint stone pathways, lush vegetation and gian cypress trees that line the banks. |
Brackenridge/Alamo Loop Venture through the heart of the downtown business district, along Commerce Street. You'll see beautiful architectural landmarks: Aztec Theatre; the Southwest School of Art & Craft, housed in a former Ursuline Academy built in 1851; and the modern San Antonio Central Library. Your destination is Brackenridge Park, home of the Japanese Tea Gardens and San Antonio Zoo, along with additional running and walking trails, playgrounds and picnic areas |

San Antonio Highlights Route This route covers a wide expanse of downtown and you'll see some of its most interesting sights. You'll begin at Main Plaza, the historic city center. The route goes past HemisFair Park, La Villita Historic Arts Village, the Alamo and Travis Park. Next, you'll head south to the King William Historic District, and the Blue Star Arts Complex, on the edge of the culinary and art gallery neighborhood that is Southtown. |
