Contemporary Art Month
The Month of March. Celebrate art and artists in venues as diverse as museums and bakeries, hotels and galleries — nearly 70 venues in all. And the offerings are as distinctive as the settings. From shows of traditional painting to readings of experimental fiction, from symphonic performances to studio tours, the creativity of the city’s arts community is on full display. Find out more >

Luminaria: Arts Night in San Antonio
March 12. Luminaria is the centerpiece of Contemporary Art Month. The heart of the celebration beats along South Alamo Street in Southtown. From 6 p.m. to midnight, the street and parts of adjacent La Villita and HemisFair Park were teeming with artists, musicians, poets ... and their public — about 300,000 of them. Eight stages and dozens of food booths and retail tents completed the picture. Find out more >

Fiesta Primavera
March 11 to 13. A three-day long block party features food and music for the young and young-at-heart. You can taste the salsa, or just dance to it. Children can play games or enjoy rides in a kid-friendly area. Don't miss the salsa dance contest on Saturday night, or the coloful luminaria designs on display. Find out more >

St. Patrick's Day
March 12-13. St. Patrick's Day in San Antonio draws visitors from afar for the annual St. Pat's Dyeing of the River Green. Floats release environmentally-friendly green dye into the river, signaling the start of a river parade. Shows pack Arneson River Theatre. The Harp and Shamrock Street Parade makes sure Irish eyes, as well as others, keep smiling. Find out more >

Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair
March 18 to 20. You'll be one of about 100,000 fans at Market Square to hear and meet the musicians driving the growing Tejano music genre. More than 100 bands, including the industry’s hottest recording artists, will perform on six different stages. Find out more >

International Olive Festival
March 26. Yes, Texas has a prospering olive industry. Enjoy the world's largest olive bar, olive oil tastings, chef demonstrations and gourmet food. Learn more about how to eat a Mediterranean diet. Fiesta
April 7 to 17. The city’s signature celebration, Fiesta began in 1891 as a flower festival. Today, Fiesta is a massive citywide party. From mariachi masses to fireworks extravaganzas, and German Gartenfests to Nights in Old San Antonio, more than 100 events fill a calendar notable for food options alone. Cinco de Mayo
May 7 & 8. Cinco de Mayo commemorates a Mexican army’s victory over a better-equipped and twice-as-large French force in Puebla on May 5, 1862. San Antonio honors its Mexican heritage with celebrations featuring lively music and great food that brings together large crowds, principally in Market Square. Find out more >

Culinaria
May 11 & 15. Culinaria, Wine & Culinary Arts Festival, San Antonio’s premier wine and food experience, features something for everyone. Both local and internationally known chefs and winemakers showcase foods and wines representing myriad cultures and countries. The series of events, which help introduce San Antonio’s diverse culinary landscape, this year will be held to coincide and partner with the Valero Texas Open. Find out more >

Tejano Conjunto Festival
May 13 to 15. The 30th annual Tejano Conjunto Festival en San Antonio brings together bands from all around the state and from as far away as the Netherlands and Japan to play music that reaches legions of fans worldwide. Valero Texas Open
April 11 to 17. Come out for the golf, stay for the festivities! Explore the ruggedly beautiful TPC course at the new J.W. San Antonio Soul Food Festival
May 20 to 21. Historic La Villita is the setting for the San Antonio Soul Food Festival, an annual homage to good Southern cooking. It kicks off with gusto via Gospel on the Plaza, a gospel choir competition Friday. Family Day follows at noon Saturday, which includes a kiddie area, arts and crafts and, of course, “gospel and greens.” Admission is free. Find out more >

Texas Folklife Festival
June 10 to 12. It’s the 40th year for the Texas Folklife Festival, held on the grounds of the Institute of Texan Cultures. The more than 40 different cultural groups in Texas are represented with more than 250 participants in this celebration of cultural diversity through foods, arts, dance and plain ol’ yarn spinnin’.
