San Antonio: Four Days of Romance

A four-day visit is ideal to script your own San Antonio love story. Here are a few ideas to rekindle your romance …

Day One

MassageEnjoy a massage-for-two at The Watermark’s spa, followed by lunch at Pesca on the River. Stroll along the River Walk to the historic Southwest School of Art & Craft. Then visit the artisan shops in La Villita for a unique keepsake. For dinner, book a reservation at one of the barges that offer candlelight dinner cruises on the San Antonio River. End the evening at The Landing listening to Jim Cullum’s Jazz Band.

Day Two

Hill Country Golf.jpgTake a drive to the scenic Texas Hill Country and visit eclectic shops, museums and gardens in the German town of Fredericksburg. After lunch at one of the town’s many German restaurants (famous for their delicious pastries), visit the area’s expanding wine country. Visitors can do a driving tour themselves, but it’s more relaxing to book a wine tour aboard a luxury van or limousine with a knowledgeable tour operator.

Day Three

King William ManorExplore San Antonio’s missions in the morning, then enjoy a Tex-Mex lunch in Southtown at Rosario’s or El Mirador. Stroll along the charming streets of King William and admire the stately and impressive historic homes built by German citizens in the 1800s. After a restorative siesta, drive back into the Hill Country to watch the sunset. Dinner at Westin La Cantera’s Francesca’s at Sunset is the perfect place to enjoy fine cuisine and admire the breathtaking view.

Day Four

Japanese Tea GardersStroll the serene paths amid reflecting pools and ornamental plantings at the Japanese Tea Garden. Have lunch on Broadway in the historic Alamo Heights neighborhood, followed by an afternoon horse-drawn carriage ride. To end your trip in style, splurge on dinner at one of San Antonio’s acclaimed restaurants, such as the four-star Le Rêve, Las Canarias, Biga on the Banks or Pesca on the River.
