Hola yo soy Gini Garcia with Garcia Art Glass here in San Antonio. We make one-of-a-kind, custom, handmade glass creations for resorts and hotels all over the world. I can name lots of great, wonderful and authentic places to go and see art and see what's going on in San Antonio today.
At Blue Star, an arts community in Southtown, there are a number of different contemporary art galleries -- and a monthly celebration called First Friday, with probably more than a hundred galleries involved. There is music in the streets and dancing and a lot of great things going on.
Another great arts center that comes to mind is the Guadalupe Cultural Art Center which is on the West side. It's really changing and evolving and they're doing some really great things over there. There's a lot of wonderful vibrancy and you'll gather the true experience of San Antonio.
Some of my favorite places to go shopping here in San Antonio are really off the beaten path. San Angel (Folk Art at the Blue Star has a great collection of artifacts and handmade creations in folk art and really odd things in there that you would really enjoy.
If you were a visitor coming here to San Antonio you would feel the amazing feeling of authenticity. You would see things that you woudn't see anywhere else. You could walk the River Walk north to the Pearl and see complete authenticity not only in the plantings, and the botanical elements of the River Walk, but you can also get a sense of the arts and the sense of vibrancy in San Antonio.
