You find authentic San Antonio food in the panaderias (bakeries) that dot the city. I love the little taquerias that have popped up all over. I’d have to absolutely recommend my family’s restaurants as well, Los Barrios and La Hacienda de Los Barrios.

The King William neighborhood is a perfect place for a beautiful stroll. It’s also near Southtown, which has a beat of its own. Great restaurants, salsa dancing, art.

What is more unique than our 10-day Fiesta? There’s so much to see and do and so much to eat! You can try wonderful foods from every ethnicity.

La Perla (the newly renovated historic Pearl Brewery complex) is definitely our newest gem. It’s the site of the Culinary Institute of America, which has been described as the culinary crossroads between the Americas. There are all these wonderful restaurants and stores like Il Sogno, Sandbar and Melissa Guerra. The Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings is a blast.

For burgers, I head to Chris Madrid’s or Big’z Burgers. The best barbecue? Two Bros. BBQ Market. You’ve got to try the Vietnamese food at Viet Nam, and the pho at Pho Cong Ly.

The Texas Hill Country is a wonderful getaway, with the little bed and breakfasts and the vineyards. Visit Becker Vineyards and sample fabulous wine.

Brackenridge Park is perfect for family reunions, and don’t miss the San Antonio Zoo. Market Square is also fantastic, with the restaurants and shops and the Museo Alameda.

My favorite annual celebration is the awesome Texas Cavaliers River Parade during Fiesta, when thousands of people line the parade route or enjoy it from a River Walk restaurant.
