Brackenridge Park is the iconic golf course in SA. The course was recently renovated and brought back as close to A. W. Tillinghast’s original 1916 design as possible.
A longtime favorite course of mine is Pecan Valley Golf Club on the South side. The course has giant pecan trees and specimen oaks, and is just a gorgeous place to play. You shouldn’t leave San Antonio without playing here.
One of our newest gems is Briggs Ranch, a private club west of San Antonio. Another great new property is the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort, with two TPC courses hosting major tournaments. World-class architects were involved in the design--Greg Norman and Pete Dye.
The Quarry Golf Course offers an excellent venue for a golf weekend. There’s great shopping and dining in the area, too, at the Alamo Quarry Market.
The Hyatt Hill Country Golf Club is ideal for a couple’s weekend. Great hotel with an amazing spa and the relaxing Lazy River.
Another excellent choice for experiencing the flavor of the Hill Country is The Westin La Cantera Resort. Two golf courses, an outstanding spa, and it overlooks the top-tier stores and restaurants at The Shops at La Cantera.
For golf’s favorite hole, the 19th, I’d recommend the Palmer Course at La Cantera. You’ll find a beautiful clubhouse with a fabulous bar and restaurant—perfect after a round of golf.
